  What Do You Do if the Household Does Not Celebrate?

  it is christmas morning ....the weather outside looks cold grey and dismal (typical britain in winter ) the house is quiet as my wife gets on with something.

  .... the street is silent, as dead as the grave.

  the tv is full of the purile nonsense that fills airtime this time of year .

  I used to feel like that but within a household celebrating xmas. I hated it so when JWs came knocking no longer being forced to endure it was a bonus.

  Now out and atheist it has no religious meaning at all and I give all the outward appearance of celebrating but inside its just another day with a bigger meal and more alcohol and more vegging out.

  You can do Xmas in your head however way you want and create a place in your mind where everyone you love celebrates and you get all the presents you want. No financial limits either.

  I used to be a veterinary nurse before I became a JW and an elder told me I would have to account to God for all the animals I helped put to sleep. That preyed on my mind the whole time I was in.

  i was just thinking at how quickly the process was from pimi - pimo - pomo.

  i must of spent about 10 years trudging along in the organization very unhappily.

  but from the initial stages of learning ttatt to physically walking out the door the process took about 18 months.

  I became pomi with health problems but was celebrating xmas in less than a year after discovering exjw sites. I felt JWs were wrong before having evidence but after reading Crisis of Conscience and Captive of a Concept and meeting a few others locally who had also left all ties with that org. were severed. I don't think they are even aware of my atheism or apostasism as I am shunned for being inactive. This is my 9th xmas :)

  because someone needs my help.. as a jw -- you can relate -- i truly believed that what everyone really needed was the kingdom hope and its eventual reality.

  you know, the hope that does not lead to disappointment.

  of course, if anyone needed practical help with a task or getting through some difficulty, most of us realized that was part of being a helpful and caring friend (or family member).. at nearly seventy years of age -- no, i didn't enter the promised kingdom in my healthful and vibrant youth -- my getting out of bed isn't so bad.

  I am bit of a recluse and my darkest thought usually come about through people so avoiding them has made me much more stable.

  My reason for getting up is looking after these precious creatures and educating others how to care for them.

  I only met this little girl for the first time today as 2 weeks old is the earliest they can be handled. It was love at first sight. I just need a name for her now. <3

  I read the article when it first appeared on facebook and then when it stated they went to the same Kingdom Hall I realised they were probably JWs.

  no pictures of Kingdom Hall remodels???

  i'm following an old friend on instagram who's an uber elder and he does lots of work on kh's and has gone to warwick on his own dime to help with the construction.

  on his instagram post he says " i can't post pictures of the kh remodel but i can post pics of jack daniels that i had afterwards" or some such.

  why aren't they allowed to take pics of remodels?

  I did a tour of their printing works and no photos were allowed. Not even a keepsake of a rejected/faulty printed sheet of any future literature either. It all had to go in the bin.
